Your Guide To Waxing Aftercare

Waxing is one of the most common forms of removing unwanted body hair. Whether you do it at home or in a salon, it is important to have proper after waxing care that will prevent the development of infections and give the best results. Have you already created your own after wax care guide? Follow our guidelines and enjoy a painless waxing experience.

What not to Wear

Choosing the right clothes is definitely one of the most important steps for after wax care. It is recommended to wear loose and breathable clothing that allows air to flow through your skin. Too tight clothing can cause sweating and lead to skin irritations, something all of us would like to avoid.

Clothing and underwear made of artificial fabrics encourage your body to sweat, and it is well known that sweat is an ideal medium for the reproduction of various types of microorganisms that cause inflammation.

Keep in mind that tight clothing rubs against your injured skin, thus contributing to irritation. Since this is an aggressive procedure, the skin will need some time to recover, so try to choose lighter clothing materials. You certainly won’t go wrong if you choose cotton, linen and fabrics made of silk.

When and Where not to Exfoliate

Regardless of the method of depilation, skin exfoliation is the best weapon in the fight against ingrown hairs. Not only because it removes dead skin cells, but also because it makes our skin softer and smoother.

Keep in mind that skin exfoliation should not be done on the day of, or for a few days after body waxing. If you exfoliate too soon, it can cause irritation and excessive dryness of the skin. The combination of peeling and depilation increases the risk of bruising.

When the skin has fully recovered, then it’s safe to exfoliate your skin to prevent ingrown hair. If it still appears - do not squeeze it! Tip: You can make an exfoliating mixture at home. Sugar or ground coffee beans are an excellent base and can be enriched with olive or coconut oil. Relax and enjoy the benefits of regular waxing and exfoliation.

How to Protect Your Pores

Although it gives us a chance to be hair-free for the next few weeks, body waxing still leaves some negative marks on our skin. After waxing, the pores on the skin remain open and susceptible to inflammation and irritation. That is why it is very important to protect your pores to reduce the risk.

A very simple way of protecting pores is by using ice packs. Wrap a few ice cubes in a napkin and put them in a plastic bag and massage the skin with gentle movements. If you don’t have ice, a cold shower will have an almost identical impact.

Avoid the gym or any Strenuous Exercise

Going to the gym after waxing is not the best idea. Increased sweating enlarges the risk of bacterial infection, inflammation and irritation. Consider delaying training for at least two days after waxing.

Watch What you put on Your Skin After

After waxing, our skin becomes extremely sensitive and prone to redness. To avoid side effects, it is important to use quality and dermatologically tested products for aftercare. To soothe the skin, apply a natural, hypoallergenic lotion based on anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredients, immediately after the process.
